Dr. P. Nazaire celebration of life

Dr. Jean Perez Nazaire

Celebration of Life

Today, we gather to celebrate the life of an extraordinary individual, a compassionate physician, and a loyal friend. Dr. Nazaire may have left us in sadness, but his impact on our lives and the lives of countless others will be felt with joy for years to come.

Yes, he left too soon, and I will miss him immensely.

I had the privilege of meeting the man here in Boston, where we both pursued our medical careers in different specialties-Pediatrics and OB/GYN. Despite our different focuses, we shared a common passion for healing and a commitment to excellence. Our trust in each other, our desire to set an example of brotherly and sisterly love, and our dedication to our  patients led us to launch Mattapan Obstetrics & Pediatrics.

Together, we proved that respect, hard work, tolerance, and a love for family matter. We showed that even in the midst of the most challenging situations, compassion, empathy, and kindness can prevail. Dr. Perez Nazaire was the embodiment of these values, and his legacy will continue to inspire us to strive for excellence in our personal and professional lives.

But Dr. Nazaire (Pépé)’s impact went far beyond the medical field. He was a true champion of the people, and his involvement in politics was a testament to his desire to make a difference. He trusted me enough to support Leslie Manigat’s political party, even becoming the trusted treasurer! Who would have thought this skeptical doctor would become a political advocate? But that was Dr. Nazaire. Yet, that was not all: He went back to Haiti as a retiree. There he did not rest; he was back home to still work, caring for the disenfranchised, setting a free clinic, teaching children to read and write, even remodeling toilets in the high school he frequented as a youth! What a man!

As we say goodbye to our dear friend, we take comfort in the memories we share with him. We remember his unwavering optimism, his love for life, his smile, his laughter, his jokes and anecdotes, our long chats about our beloved Haiti, and his unrelenting passion for Medicine and his determination to making a difference in the world. We honor his memory by continuing serving every patient, every individual with the same compassion, dedication, and love that he exemplified every day.

RIP, brother, your legacy will go on.
